The wilaya occupies an area of 2,398 km2 and is divided into 11 districts and 28 municipalities. It is bordered on the north by the Mediterranean Sea on a coastal strip stretching 120 km in length, from the south: the states of Setif and Mila, from the east by the state of Skikda and from the west by the wilaya of Bejaia.
It is distinguished by its agricultural character and has potentials that allow it to be a tourist destination par excellence.
The province of Jijel is also among the regions that know the largest rainfall in Algeria, as the annual precipitation rate is between 800 and 120 mm.

Tourism development and investment:
- Approved projects: in the state 61 approved projects: 36 non-starting projects, 14 in the process of completion and 11 stalled projects.

- Tourist expansion areas: in the Wilayat of Jijel 19 areas for tourism expansion with a total area estimated at 4 232 AH.
Traditional handicraft:
- The most important craft activities in the state: the manufacture of wooden utensils, traditional ornaments, leather, pottery, traditional patterns and dress, artifacts, pastries and traditional sweets.
- Craftsmen: The number of artisans in the state is 10 955 craftsmen registered in the Register of Handicrafts and Crafts until 30/11/2021
